Skills

In the many years of my career, I have developed numerous skills.  I began my profession teaching French in a Junior / Senior High Public School, then taught English as a Second Language to Spanish speaking children and adolescents who were recent immigrants to the US.  After completing my counseling degree, I created the counseling services at Milton Academy and was fortunate to be able to oversee and develop a comprehensive health and counseling service for both boarding and day students in grades K-12.  I am a competent public speaker, accomplished workshop leader, effective leader of in-service training for faculty on numerous topics.  I enjoy teaching both adolescents and adults and am equally effective with both.

Since my retirement from Milton Academy, I have been consulting to schools on various issues.  I presented to the Independent School College Counselors Association on issues of transition for seniors, co-led a seminar at the annual TABS conference in December on Living a Fulfilling Life in Boarding School, conducted a full evaluation of the Health and Counseling Services at a day / boarding school, created a three series Webinar on Bullying for Independent School Management, ran an in-service for faculty on issues of loss for students, run two summer week-long conferences for Deans of Students, and did two opening school in-service trainings for faculty in different schools.
