Carol W. Hotchkiss, Director and Co-Curricular Consultant to Schools
In her 30-year career in independent boarding schools, Carol has worked as a teacher, dorm head, learning specialist, multicultural advisor, dean, counselor, and Assistant Head of School. She founded the Peer Leadership Program at The Peddie School in New Jersey and the Human Development Program at Cate School in California. She is currently the director of the Durango Institute for Co-Curricular Education, co-director of the Human Development Institute, and on the teaching faculty of The Association of Boarding Schools.
Carol has been a popular presenter at NAIS, TABS, ISHA, IECA, and at regional meetings of a number of independent school associations throughout the United States and Canada. She has worked with over 200 schools in the United States, Canada, and abroad to evaluate and strengthen their co-curricular programs.
Carol is the author of Quests and Quandaries, a text for human development programs, Personal Quests and Quandaries: Coming of Age in the 21st Century, co-author of Building a Residential Curriculum, and contributor to Healthy Choices, Healthy Schools, and A Step Ahead.
